More consumer information leaked.

A good chunk of the information stolen would have been gathered when calling for a quote. Time to think again about what information you are willing to give out, when to give it out, and to whom.

Prosecute on broken promises....?

This republican should be careful with his words. There are just as many republicans who have held office that jave broken promises. Should they all be prosecured...?

Really?... 1 trillion

An interesting fact. The entire US GDP is $14 trillion. I mean the entire thing. Do we really loose 1/14'th of our economy every year? 7% of our economy? Really?

Does Cybercrime Really Cost $1 Trillion? - ProPublica

If McAfee is that certain of theur number they should release the method they used to arrive at that number. Not releasing the methodology is more suspicious to me, IMO.

Just an opinion

As long as Janek is not taking away the fact that would get a college degree from attending music school which has served me well from a non-music perspective.

Modes, scales, chord names, rules... REALLY?!!?!

phew..... Lots of Configuring today

Doing lots of configuring and setting things up on my laptop today, and haev run into a variety of issues. Some are still present, but a majority haev been taken care of. here are the links, that I have been using today:

Crack a PST password
Put vmnet into promiscuous mode
Disable an upstart job
More upstart disabling
VM DHCP reservations
More VMware DHCP stuff
Favorites list in VMware Player

Still a long way to go to finish the laptop, but I am getting closer!

Twitter spreading new malware

I am sure it is not really new and just a variation on something that already exists, but it looks as if twitter is spreading junk again.

The 2012 Web Application Scanner Benchmark

New scanner benchmark is out.
I know the die-hard would say that the only proper test is a manual test of the application, but when you are short staffed, too many apps in the pipeline, and/ or just getting your program off the ground, this is a good start. It is not the final destination, but a good start......

The Internet is altering our brains.

Some of the people out there might first reply: "No duh!", while a few of you might still be surprised by this. Some people will think that it is a bad thing, while others will see this as the next step in evolution of the human species. What might be a little different for some folks to hear, is that there are people in society today who do not remember a time before technology. They do not remember having to go somewhere to see a movie like a theater or movie rental store, holding a book while reading it, or a time before we did everything and anything with these small GPS devices like checking email, watching youtube, or just surfing the web killing a few idle minutes. I still remember my first online email account with Yahoo. I had just started college, and only checked it once a day. (if even that much.) Now I check it multiple times a day, or stated better: My phone automatically synchs with all of my email accounts every few hours, and then alerts me when I have a new email. The majority of the emails do not need to be read or replied to in any sort of timely manner.

Is this the new addiction that is going to run rampant in society? People curled up by the side of the road, their fingers twitching slightly, eyes glazed over, and quietly mumbling to themselves?
Is this the new measuring stick that the older members of society hold over the younger generations? "I remember having to go to the library to read a book", to which the younger person says: "What is a book?"
Regardless of your view, check out this article that is worth reading on your smartphone. Warning, you might put the phone down for awhile after this.

Great Project Computer

http://arstechnica.com/open-source/news/2012/02/raspberry-pis-35-linux-computer-on-track-to-launch-later-this-month.ars

A colleague at work just forwarded this to me, and it seems like a great little project computer. I know the specs are not super huge at this point, but it is the size of a deck of cards, so what do you honestly expect. At the very least it could be a great home router/ firewall for someone to use. The specs are going to be roughly equivalent to a Cisco ASA 5505.

Have to love the TSA

Possibly the Most Incompetent TSA Story Yet

This ranks up there as one of the dumbest moves the TSA has done so far. Glad to see they called the bomb squad as a precaution, but didn't think evacuating the airport terminal was a good idea. Marvelous.
