Check your Email

Just in case a human might see this......

https://haveibeenpwned.com/

This site allows you to check if your email has been compromised in a previous breach or hack of some company. You can set up alerts for any domain you manage as well.

I would also like to show another feature on his site that you can use:

https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords

This allows you to check if your password has been "leaked" or part of any previous breach.

Government Buys Marketing Data

I know their marketing statements talk about  not gathering PII data, but what most don't realize, is that you don't need specific PII data to track someone. You can still identify a person by multiple means when the data set is large enough.

How many Utah knew about this?

You would think they did some background research before engaging into this contract.

Damien Patton, who helped launch and now leads the secretive startup Banjo, was part of the Dixie Knights of the Ku Klux Klan as a 17-year-old and joined a leader of the group in a drive-by shooting of a synagogue in a Nashville suburb, according to a report by the online outlet OneZero, citing transcripts of courtroom testimony, sworn statements and more than 1,000 pages of records produced from a federal hate crime prosecution.

Utah officials in 2018 had awarded Patton’s company a sole-source, $750,000 contract to provide massive real-time surveillance of 911 calls, social media and traffic cameras. The company has also signed a $20.7 million contract with the state.

Any privacy is now gone

Bye Bye last of your privacy

But without public scrutiny, more than 600 law enforcement agencies have started using Clearview in the past year, according to the company, which declined to provide a list. The computer code underlying its app, analyzed by The New York Times, includes programming language to pair it with augmented-reality glasses; users would potentially be able to identify every person they saw. The tool could identify activists at a protest or an attractive stranger on the subway, revealing not just their names but where they lived, what they did and whom they knew.

More Secure, Less Privacy

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says photos of travelers were taken in a data breach
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/06/10/us-customs-border-protection-says-photos-travelers-into-out-country-were-recently-taken-data-breach/

This crazy push to use biometrics in the pursuit of making us more secure, is actually stripping us of one of our last bits we call our own. It is only a matter of time before the first mega-breach of this data happens.

Forget you rprivacy

Privacy took a huge step backward with this. I do think this is something that will get further spread across the globe as all of the nations become more like police states.
