Doctors Stand Up

We write as physicians to denounce this psychological manipulation. We write to apologize for the discrimination our patients of color have received in the hospital under our watch, we write in gratitude for the tireless labor of Black activists, and we write to condemn how medicine has been weaponized in the service of white supremacy. We write to validate what Black people already know—have always known—that racism is a most pressing public health crisis. We pledge to fight this crisis as if our own breath depended on it.

How many Utah knew about this?

You would think they did some background research before engaging into this contract.

Damien Patton, who helped launch and now leads the secretive startup Banjo, was part of the Dixie Knights of the Ku Klux Klan as a 17-year-old and joined a leader of the group in a drive-by shooting of a synagogue in a Nashville suburb, according to a report by the online outlet OneZero, citing transcripts of courtroom testimony, sworn statements and more than 1,000 pages of records produced from a federal hate crime prosecution.

Utah officials in 2018 had awarded Patton’s company a sole-source, $750,000 contract to provide massive real-time surveillance of 911 calls, social media and traffic cameras. The company has also signed a $20.7 million contract with the state.

In Virginia, 2 Churches Feel The Aftermath Of Trump's Racist Rhetoric
https://www.npr.org/2019/08/12/749410060/in-virginia-2-churches-feel-the-aftermath-of-trumps-racist-rhetoric

it might not be racist, but still is kind of ignorant.......

"Where'd their parents come from? Are they Americans?" Cook asked. "Just because she was born in America does not make her American."

and the later......

"Doesn't it?" I asked. "Doesn't it legally, though, under the Constitution?"

"Under the Constitution, yes," Cook acknowledged, then paused. "But I don't know how to express that, to make you understand that I wish she, I wish they, well — I don't want any Muslims in America."

the problem with this person's argument is that it makes it very easy to assume that to her being American means being white or Christian, in which case it does make it a little racist.

Painting a bleak picture

https://www.wired.com/story/white-nationalists-have-co-opted-fan-fiction/

In recent years, Rhodesian iconography has gained popularity among young men with white nationalist leanings. Infatuation with Rhodesia first received media attention after it was discovered that Dylann Roof—the white supremacist who killed 9 black churchgoers in 2015—had a personal website called “Last Rhodesian,” where he posted his manifesto. Soon after the mass shooting, we learned about Roof’s idolization of Rhodesia: The territory was led by Ian Smith, who famously declared that “the white man is master of Rhodesia. He has built it, and he intends to keep it.” It was a state defined by military conflicts with African people. To Dylann Roof and many others, Rhodesia is a symbol of militarized white nationalism and the fantasy of a race war.

Only because he was caught

Trump Attempts to Disavow Chant

“I was not happy with it,” Trump told reporters from the Oval Office. “I disagree with it.” --  He is so full of $h!t
Asked why he didn’t stop his supporters from continuing with the chant, Trump insisted that he, in fact, did. “Well, number one, I think I did. I started speaking very quickly,” he claimed. “I disagree with it, by the way. It was quite a chant, and I felt a little bit badly about it.”
But videos of the rally show Trump nearly basking in the crowd’s chants and and listening to it for more than 10 seconds before proceeding with his remarks. Despite video evidence contradicting Trump’s comments from the Oval Office, several news outlets ran with the headline the president clearly desired.

Racist in Charge

Trump Attacks Congresswomen At N.C. Rally, As Crowd Chants 'Send Her Back'

"We as a people and we as a congregation have had firsthand experiences on how racist activities can impact people of faith... When you hear the rhetoric of going back from where you came from — for many of our folk, that's two blocks from here, so we are well invested in this country," Hammond said. "The contributions that we've made to the success of this country are well-documented."

If she was black.....

First, as the father of girls, the act done by the boys is abhorrent, and they should be punished severely under the law of the land. The refugee backlash is becoming equally abhorrent.

It's only because the girl was white is this a big issue. If the young girl was black, no one in this town would lift a finger. Not sure what to call it other than pure racism.
