scathing, but true

"""America’s rapid descent into an impoverished nation has had a catastrophic consequence which is completely unseen. Americans don’t trust one another. They live in a society without social bonds. Sometimes, this rears its head in obvious ways...."

teen spenders

We are so desperate for normal....

This is horrible though. Our society is so stuck on money that we track how much our kids spend.

I can't help but think this is not as altruistic as this article makes it seem.

Stop Being Busy

Being Busy Sucks!

Interesting article. I had started some of this recently, with the biggest thing, being able to say no, more and more.

As a society, maybe we should prioritize what is really important to us, instead of trying to "fit in", and "keep up" with anyone. It is too bad, the only way to advance in corporate America is to become busier, and de-prioritize things like your family, friends, personal interests, etc.

Another way that our society is failing.

How are parents,, especially when both must work to create a living wage cope with this.......
Why does the school day end 2 hours before the workday

And in some cases, without a better alternative, they leave their children unsupervised: 3 percent of elementary-school students and 19 percent of middle-school students look after themselves from 3 to 6 p.m. during the school week. On the whole, conflicting school and work schedules cost the U.S. economy $55 billion in lost productivity each year, in large part due to parents (mostly women) who scale back employment and the lost productivity when parents have to take off work during school closures.

We really need to start examining as a county and society as a whole, what is important to us, and what sort of world do we want to live in.
